There is some mainstream optimism about DOGE but the savings and waste they're finding is minuscule compared to the size of the deficit and one-third of spending is about to start going to interest costs.

The Republican House proposed budget today has a deficit of $1.9 trillion and that's after finding about $200 billion in annual savings from Medicaid.
