That's a big surge in US job cuts in February, with it being 245% higher than the same month last year. The 127,017 layoffs announced last month is the highest since July 2020. But as always, the devil is in the details. Federal government layoffs accounted for most of the figure, with 62,242 job cuts announced by 17 different agencies. DOGE is at work here and nearly half of the total layoffs for the month are related to the initiative - be it federal workers and/or contractors.
