Airwallex Secures Dutch MiFID Licence to Roll Out Money Market Investments in Europe
Airwallex has received a Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) license from the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM), enabling it to launch its Yield product in the Netherlands. The license allows the company to offer money market fund investments to European small and medium-sized businesses.
Licence Unlocks New Revenue Option for Firms
With the new authorization, Airwallex will offer multi-currency investment options in euros, pounds, and US dollars. The service will allow businesses to earn returns without lock-up periods or term deposit restrictions.
Yield will integrate directly into the Airwallex platform. Businesses will be able to move funds between cash and investment accounts at any time, eliminating the need for multiple bank accounts across currencies.
Commenting about the move, Shannon Scott, the SVP and Global Head of Product at Airwallex, said: “Receiving our MiFID licence is the first step to launching Yield in the Netherlands and will get us one step closer to providing European businesses with a smarter way to make their money work harder.”
“Instead of leaving surplus funds idle, companies will soon be able to earn competitive returns while keeping full flexibility to access their cash whenever they need it.”
Netherlands Growth Fuels Product Rollout
The Dutch launch follows similar rollouts in Australia, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Airwallex has reported 199% year-on-year growth in the Netherlands, driven by a rise in customer accounts, new products, and senior hires in risk and compliance.
