European shares close sharply lower.There are no winners in the Europe or US stock indices
There are no winners in the equity markets in Europe or the US. The closing levels in Europe shows:
- German DAX, -401.79 points or -1.75% at 22607.16. New record highs were made last Thursday at 23475.88
- France's CAC -73.20 point or -0.90% at 8047.61.
- UK's FTSE 100 fell -79.64 points or -0.92% at 8600.23.
- Spain's Ibex fell -174.42 points or -1.32% at 13082.69
- Italy's FTSE MIB fell -366.99 points or -0.95% at 38225.81
As London/European traders look toward the exits, US indices are continuing their slide:
- Dow -527 or -1.23% at 42279
- S&P -130.30 or -2.26% at 5640.55
- NASDAQ index -660 points or -3.63% at 17539
The largest daily decline in 2024 was 3.64%. At session lows, the price was down more than that amount. You would have to go back to October 2022 when the market fell -3.8% in a single day to have a worse trading day
